About the Artist

Bob McGee
Biography
Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, in 1960 into an Air Force family, Bob's childhood was shaped by constant travel, exposing him to a wide variety of culture, landscape, and wildlife. The McGee family moved frequently between military bases, many of them overseas, giving Bob a unique perspective on the natural world from an early age.
Wherever his family lived, Bob immersed himself in his surroundings. From exploring the coastlines of the Azores and chasing lizards in the Philippines to observing Australia's remarkable wildlife and catching horny toads in Colorado, each new destination deepened his appreciation for nature and adventure.
At the age of eight, while living with his grandparents, Bob discovered his passion for art. Under the guidance of his artistic grandfather, he learned to draw the human figure before turning his attention to the wildlife that fascinated him. Every accomplishment and award throughout his youth strengthened his determination to continue improving his craft - a commitment that remains strong today.
Over the years, Bob has studied under several accomplished artists, including Jan Martin-McGuire, John Seerey-Lester, and most recently Mark McKenna. Each mentor has helped shape his artistic vision while encouraging him to develop a style that is uniquely his own.
Bob's artistic journey has taken him through watercolor, gouache, acrylic, and most recently oil painting, which has become his preferred medium. Drawn to its richness and versatility, he continues to explore new techniques and push himself to grow with every painting.
After retiring from a successful career as a Tool and Die Maker, Bob now resides in Northeast Pennsylvania where he devotes his time to painting full-time and exploring with his wife Carol. The freedom to create every day has allowed him to develop a looser more expressive style.
Today Bob's greatest inspiration remains the wildlife that captured his imagination as a child. Through his paintings, he hopes not only to celebrate the beauty of the natural world, but also to inspire others to appreciate and protect it.
